The Elvis Evolution Experience — Coming 2024

NME magazine reported on a new live concert experience coming in 2024 called ‘Elvis Evolution’ by the company Layered Reality.

The Elvis estate has provided Layered Reality with thousands of hours of live video which they will use to train and create an AI Hologram.

So what kind of experiences can we expect at a concert with AI Elvis?

Andrew McGuinness, founder of Layered Reality gives us a taste of what coming:

You’re going to be stepping into intricate sets that make you feel like you’ve time travelled…It’s more about how we want people to feel, we use temperature, taste and smell to make people feel like they are in Memphis in 1958.

This follows other recent developments in entertainment technology such as the ABBA voyage experience, which doesn’t use AI but just uses 3D hologram projections of the band.

NME was very impressed with ABBA Voyage who described it as:

…an epic avatar mega-mix from a brave new world…ageing rockers and poppers are bound to imitate the idea, but it’ll be a struggle to come close to the experience of ABBA Voyage

McGuinness describes some of the differences you can expect with Elvis Evolution:

ABBA Voyage had the luxury of capturing live performers, but we’re not that fortunate. The AI generates an authentic version of Elvis, born of original material, but it allows you to do new things with him.

The show will open in London in late 2024, and later in Las Vegas, Tokyo and Berlin.
