Does AI threaten human connection?
Hello Friend,
You may have heard about of ‘AI Girlfriends’ but is it a gimmick or a genuine growing trend? And what does it mean for human relationships?
In this week’s article I look into the AI Girlfriends phenomenon and ask if this might be a convenient distraction from a deeper problem with human relationships.
This week I also passed an important milestone for the newsletter - reaching over 1,000 subscribers!

Spotlight: AI Girlfriends - The Convenient Scapegoat for Our Failing Relationships
How AI Girlfriends Expose the Truth About Our Broken Society
Amidst the growing trend of AI girlfriends and companions, many articles have emerged denouncing them as harmful to society.
However, this criticism conveniently overlooks a deeper, more fundamental issue – the breakdown of human relationships that has been unfolding for decades. Merely condemning AI girlfriends as the problem is akin to scolding someone for smoking without addressing the underlying causes of addiction.
As the world becomes increasingly disconnected, an epidemic of loneliness and social isolation has taken root, with profound impacts on physical and mental health.
Ultimately, the rise of AI girlfriends exposes an uncomfortable truth about our broken society – a truth that challenges us to look inward, acknowledge our shortcomings, and work towards rebuilding the essential human bonds that technology alone cannot replicate nor replace.

Human connections and communication is becoming an issue- people date online and what about offline? I can see that with some single friends, they can’t meat anyone offline, just online. Even though they go out and mingle. AI software girlfriends and boyfriends and future sex dolls can be an issue for our humanity.
